This long, steel, special SHIRRing crochET needle has a finger-hold. We use it for all crochet projects and especially Shirrét™ rug method. My ‘no arthritis’ needle fits through your hand. That stablilizes the action so you pull fabric OFF the needle and ONTO the cord stitch. We get a thick textile for rugs, bags, hats, mats, cozies.

This method was named Shirret by Louise McCrady in 1968. Louise and her mother Katrin Hart Ent Benson taught their methods of making rugs from fabric scraps starting in the 1930s. Our special needle is designed to SHIRR scraps and add them to twine stitches for thick, REVERSIBLE rugs etc.
